Overview
Project Management is the discipline of initiating, planning, organizing, and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific objectives and goals. A project is a finite endeavor—having specific start and completion dates—undertaken to create a unique product or service which brings about beneficial change or added value.
As an effective project manager, you organize scarce resources, work under tight deadlines, control project change and generate maximum team performance. Through this 2 days workshop, you learn how to successfully plan, manage and deliver projects. You also learn how to implement project management processes, develop leadership skills and respond to real-world scenarios.

With the knowledge and skills acquired at the end of the training program, the participants will be able to plan and manage projects from project initiating to closing.
They can utilize and customize various project management tools introduced in the class to be used in their organizations. They would also understand their
individual roles, responsibilities and values in various projects to achieve organizational goals.

The course structure is based on PMBOK® Guide from the Project Management Institute, www.pmi.org
Classroom lectures, experience sharing, case studies, exercises and quiz are included to enhance the learning process.

Executives, engineers, team leaders, functional managers, and project managers or any individuals that are participate or manage small to big projects who need to strengthen their project management skillset, and seeking a refresher on fundamental project management knowledge, skills and tools.

The program concentrates on 5 fundamental project management process groups that applicable to any project size and nature:
(1) Project Initiating
The program will start off with an overview of the project managementprocess and cycle; what are the requirements that need to be considered, and from there formulate a smart goal to achieve it. Setting clear project scope, time and cost are the base stone. The important of the project charter and project requirement document formed part of the critical aspect to ensure project success.

(2) Project Planning
Adequacy of a project plan will determine the project success or fail. Extra effort is needed in this stage to ascertain the project carry out smoothly. The selection of competent leader to manage the project serves as an essential factor, while proper organization structure, clear work breakdown structure and responsibility, plus detail schedule planning define the overall project framework. It is always important to have a proper channel on communicating the project status among team members and stakeholders.

(3) Project Executing
Having a good plan does not mean the project will success automatically.
Able to “walk the talk” effectively will lead to the project goals. It is important to have a room to develop the project team, and manage closely any change and risk in between.

(4) Project Monitoring and Controlling
Close monitor and control over the project life cycle cannot be neglected.
Continue effort on assessing and controlling the project performance is part of the important process to achieve goals. Especially when in the event of exceed original budget, and changes that require fulfilling the customer or marketing needs.

Engr. Dr. Mui Kai Yin, MIEM, PEng, PhD, MP;
A Certified Project Management Professional (Project Management Institute www.pmi.org) with years of experience on managing projects for Multi-National Corporations in both electronics and automotive industries. He is currently a certified consultant and trainer for organizational development. Prior to this, he was heading an Engineering Department that managing various key capital expenditure (Capex) project portfolios and deploying continuous improvement strategies for manufacturing excellence.
Trained as a Mechanical Engineer (undergraduate from University of Sunderland and postgraduate from University of Warwick of United Kingdom), Engr. Mui has more than 10 years working experience in Multi-National Companies. He has been a hand on Process & Industrial Engineer for the manufacturing operation, and handled both local and global new product launch projects successfully.
Engr. Mui is a registered Professional Engineer with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (www.bem.org.my) and a corporate member of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (www.iem.org.my). He has been an active member of the institution, involved in organize various technical visits for local branch members. He also holds a Doctorate Degree in Business Administration and Management, and brings with him lots of experience on managing peoples in the Manufacturing Operation and R&D areas
