SimulationX provides open, comprehensive CAx-interfaces to external programs for different purposes and applications, e.g. CAE, CAD (PTC Pro/Engineer, Autodesk Inventor), CAM, Computer-aided optimization (e.g.Isight, modeFRONTIER, OptiY), FEA/FEM, CFD. Co-Simulation provides a general interface which can be used to link SimulationX to CAE tools with predefined setups for particular realizations (MSC.Adams, Simpack, MATLAB/Simulink, Fluent, Cadmould etc.). The coupling ensures the data exchange between the tools and the simulation software.

Simulation X is an interdisciplinary multi-domain simulation tool for the modeling, computation, optimization and reliability analysis of components and complex systems on a unique platform. The computation bases of all the important physical domains and effects - with 500 ready-to-use model elements for 1D mechanics, 3D multi-body systems, power transmission, hydraulics, pneumatics, thermodynamics, electrics, electrcial drives, magnetics as well as controls - post-processing included. And over 300 examples from 11 application areas simplify and accelerate modeling proceses.

SimulationX is the Driving Force in System Simulation. The model libraries including validated model components are being developed in close co-operation with numerous industrial partners and research institutes. The program with its customer-oriented modules and editions, numerous functionalities and interfaces fulfils the requirements for user's application taske. The tools is unique in terms of library integration, modeling comfort and flexiblity. It has been developed as a CAE application with an up-to-date user front-end.

The Power Transmission libraries support the efficient modeling and analysis of mechanical powertrains as well as the simulation-based design of controlled drive systems. All models can be parameterized in a user-friendly manner by values available from product data sheets and design parameters. In combination with animation bodies (library Animation Bodies) animated three-dimensional visualizations are created easily and quickly. The Electrical Engineering Library permits the modeling and simulation of electrical and magnetic phenomena using network models. The parameterization is application-oriented and follows established engineering principles. Thus, the complex behavior as it appears in controlled electromechanical drives is easily modeled and simulated. The Fluid Power libraries offer elements for the efficient and intuitive modeling of fluid-power systems and components. Users are able to create their models in a straightforward manner according to the hydraulic or pneumatic circuit diagram. The models are assembled from library elements such as cylinders, valves, pipes, hoses, pumps and accumulators. Using the Mechanics libraries, user could execute simulation, modeling and analysis tasks on mechanical systems very efficiently. The elements allow the quick creation of models with the desired degrees of freedom (1-dimensional, planar, and 3-dimensional). Mechanical systems in SimulationX are assembled from mass and inertia elements, spring-damper elements, and force elements. These elements are parameterized with physically motivated parameters. The Controls domain contains a collection of libraries for block-oriented modeling of signal flow models and also provides a tool for the direct integration of UML state charts (Statechart Designer). It permits to model open- and closed-loop controls for physical systems, using modeling approaches common in control theory. Controller and plant can both be simulated within the same model, each using the best suiting modeling approach.

The thermodynamics libraries can be used to model complex thermal interactions in fluids, gases and solids. They apply to the modeling of processes in heating and cooling systems, air conditioners or heat engines, as well as thermal phenomena in other applications, such as the thermal behavior of driveline components could be modelled and simulated..
